      Here is the parts book . . . 😀

Gary – part #16 (valve retainer) is captured by deformation of the edge of the hole in the housing it sits in. It appears to be the only way to replace part #17 (O-ring).

Do most people just give that one a pass?

Or am I looking at some dremel work?

And why are the core plugs so damned expensive?

ETA: any hints/tips/tricks on removing and installing part #36?

what are the specs on this O ring which dealers don’t seem to have .. or want in …stock preferring to sell the whole OMC hose end connectors for $15

It took a while but I found one in my stash marked P/N 334913 and the closest I could measure it was:

              O.D. .468 or 15/32
              I.D. .218 or 7/32
              Thickness .125 or 1/8

Gee, the Sierra 18-7150 equivalents are only $23.88 a piece on Amazon while the OMC originals can be found for a buck or so on Ebay.

Follow up question – does anybody sell the rim protectors that slip over the bottom rim of the tank and protect the bottom of the boat?

A google search turns up nothing, which means I’m probably using a bad search string.

That tiny little o-ring around the pin is a very troublesome item. When they leak, the fuel pump sucks air from around the pin. There are two sizes of the o-ring, early ones being smaller than later ones. The early ones are especially prone to leaking. It is removed by removing the core plug, then sliding the pin & spring out. Then stick a punch or something in the retainer #16 and rock it out. Use a hammer and screwdriver to stake it back in.
