I have the throttle rigged up with the lever on the steering helm and it works well.  I ignored the importance of being able to adjust the spark advance.  I ran the motor on this boat by tiller yesterday and I think this is going to be a great match for the boat.

My next question is how was the remote spark advance set up back in the day?  The advance lever has a hole in it to be able to connect something to it.  What’s the play here?

Here’s some video running the Speeditwin from the back of the boat as I try to dial it in.  I’ve since run it remotely but I don’t have all the bugs worked out yet.  I do think this is a good pairing.

Beautiful boat and great boat/motor combo.   Runs really nice!

Thanks for the ride. You guys in the far East have a lot of neat
            wood boats and old motors!

            Prepare to be boarded!

That’s a Maine-made boat but the motor comes from away, west from here.

You’ve got quite a collection of motors, yourself, Buc.  Always working on something interesting.

Looks like you have found a really nice Speeditwin.
Original carburetor? I see what you’re saying about it being
a good match for the boat. When you get your control’s
figured out you will be sitting so far away you’ll hardly
                be able to hear it!!!

Tubs, I broke the original carb.  They are so fragile.  But I got another parts carb and was able to put one together.

I like the sound of this engine.  I have an ad from 1929 exclaiming the virtues of their new underwater exhaust system.

I need to find a new fuel cap.  The one I have lost the vent nut so I have a wooden dowel stuck in there.  I drilled a hole in it so it’s a vented dowel. I don’t have any ads exclaiming the virtue of vented dowels.
