I have installed those round B&S  pumps ….not saying they don’t work but the subject came up a few years ago on this board.

Something to do with the  brass mesh screen  over the pulse chamber of the pump allowing   the heavier  fuel-oil mix present in the pulse line t o ooze out the mesh.

actually.. if I recall correctly conclusion on  the  B/S round pumps was that they  are better suited to  4 stroke application such as small engines for  garden tracors/ lawn mowers etc…

For  2 stroke the square Mikuni pumps are better or  the basic  square OMC  pump if it can be adapted  so the crankcase pulse can be  fed to it.

I’ve had mixed results with the B&S style fuel pumps with the brass screen on my outboard projects.   A couple times they worked fine but my last project it didn’t work at all.   I’ve never had a problem when I used a Mikuni pump.

Before you give up on the original pump, have you talked to Roger Soderstrum… Mr. all things “Oliver”

Thanks Geary. I bought one. I just need to put it on. Or mainly figure WHERE to put it on!
