I have 2 OMC 9.5hp’s. One is a 1964 MQ10 and the other a ?(id plate gone). Both are same color
but decals are different. I know zero about the history on these other than they have been sitting for years
I was going to try and piece together one from the best parts

There is a difference in the prop. seal & seal housing on these motors.
In the picture below, the 64 housing is on the right and the ? on the left.
The screws on this one are being real stubborn so I cannot to a good visual
      comparison of the housings
On-line parts diagrams do not show a part # for seal on these motors. I ‘m starting to think the one on the left
      isn’t even the right housing.

Not being too familiar with these, does anyone know if this is the correct housing and maybe a
part number for a replacement seal?

      Thanks

The one on the left obviously is trashed by some sort of debris behind the prop. It need a replacement head and bearing assy (the part on the right). Various years / versions are interchangeable.

OK, having said that, the one on the right at one time had a weed & fish line excluder pressed into the outer end. It has fallen off, as most do. At the time they were producing that version, they did not list a replacement seal. They expected you to replace the whole head & bearing assy. However, that is not necessary, as the seal can be replaced. If you look at a parts list for different years where the excluder was not used, you can get the seal number. Or, if it is still readable on the one on the right, that would be the part number, but it is replaced by a different number.

BTW, those screws are a piece of cake if you use the correct tool, which is a daily necessity for anybody working on outboards. It is a hand impact screwdriver. A swat with a hammer rotates the bit.

Thank you for that. Here is a better picture I meant to post
for better comparison. The one on the left is cone shaped & some of the
numbers on the seal are too worn down to make out

The one on the left is cone shaped because it is mutilated by some foreign object between it and the prop grinding away at it. The one on the right looks normal, except for the missing excluder.
