The height of the of the plug wire connection
is a concern. If that clears it could be an option
in motors where that isn’t an issue.

A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Aren’t these the same coils the Johnson TN-HD motors used?  Later ones had a single ground wire and should fit the Gale mag plate. Shouldn’t have any problem locating some of these considering how many TN and HD motors were built. Better yet, stop by and I’ll give you a couple!

Yes, those coils will work. I had five loose coils laying around, all tested bad
on the secondary. No doubt, some of those came off of some
of my Johnson T and H models!

Those Tecumseh coils seem to be very reliable. I have messed with many of those engines, on snow blowers and lawn mowers, and have never seen a bad one yet. Even their condensers seem indestructible. 99% of the time, if a Tecumseh has no spark, it’s just that the points are dirty. They don’t produce a huge whack like OMCs, though. Maybe that’s why they last. Tecumseh spark plug gap is .025.

            Long live American manufacturing!

Bill, I’m not sure about the reliability of these cheap
“knock off” coils for Tecumseh, but one can hope
              the produce spark!
