Well, my “harmonic balancer puller” has worked OK for me except on a Suzuki 65 hp.  That one has FOUR puller holes.  I’m pretty sure the OMC tool isn’t set up for that.  I tried pulling it using two opposite holes and bent the puller.  So now I’m making something up from a scrap of 1/2″ plate.

I like the idea of using stop nuts to set the insertion distance.

I’ve not had trouble with my harmonic balancer puller.

I had my nephew weld a handle on it.

For the puller bolts I used heat shrink tubing to set the depth.

I also use a flywheel knocker a lot.

I’m going to try some pictures.

heat shrink is a good idea.

reason I used nylon nuts was  to keep the bolts permanently  installed  in the h.b.  to prevent loss or  having to chase them down my tool kit.

maybe a mix of  full thread bolts with  nylon nuts  up close to  the HB …..plus some heat shrink on the  threaded shafts will become a better mouse trap  if one does not wish to invest in the cadillac  of pullers 🙂

On the contrary, the OMC puller is set up for four holes.
