OMC Fold Light handle

I have a funky setup on my 1930 Fold Light. The handle bracket seems to be a modification from the original design.

Here’s a photo of Tom Manley’s own engine

Originally, the handle was mounted to the carb body, as you can see on Tom’s motor. Tom says there’s high risk to carrying the motor by this handle. It’s tempting to do because it folds down. The bracket on my motor doesn’t look like a homemade piece. Is this a later factory modification? Or, maybe adapted from another motor?
