      Hi all

I’ve been working on my ’68 Johnson 5hp in preparation for our upcoming Wet Meet next Sunday here Down Under.
I went through it in July of 2014, with new ignition, water pump etc installed.

I have the OMC metal 3 gallon fuel tank that I believe would’ve came with the motor originally, and I am aiming to use it with the motor for the upcoming meet.

Unfortunately, the vent on the top of the fuel tank is holding me up as it is stuck (not able to turn open/closed) and I don’t want to break it, so; does anyone know the correct way (or a way) to disassemble the vent assembly on these fuel tanks? Hopefully after disassembly and a good clean it won’t stick in future…

      Cheers
      BP

There is no opening or closing about it. It is a one-way vent which allows air to enter the tank but does not allow vapors to escape from the tank. It does it all by itself, with no operator input required (or possible).

I had one like that that gave me fits. I plugged it and got a vented fuel cap for it.
