OMC Iron Horse

Lack of space can’t stop a collector on holidays and so I picked up an Iron Horse washing machine motor. Because of the condition and critique from others who just don’t understand, I cleaned it up, got it running and gave it a paint job for oooos and awes of the same critics. Now I’m looking for info. There is some on Smokestak but only on Johnson Iron Horses. Mine is a lookalike to the 30’s but there’s no mention of the Outboard Motor Corporation Iron horse I have. Where can I find the year and or info on this?

Johnson’s 4 cycle Iron Horse design pre dated OMC, so an early model (1933?) would not say OMC on it. It was supposed to turn the company toward profitability. They even built a factory in Galesburg in case the Waukeegon plant couldn’t handle all the production.
