Sure. Spark on 5 cylinders. New brp coils (all 6) checked all wires and connections, all ok.

Port bank, bottom cylinder has no spark, ever, with inline tester while running or when cranking over. Does not jump air gap on open tester either.

I switched the power pack leads on the middle and bottom coil and the no spark condition follows the pack lead. I took this to mean the coils were good and the issue was in the power pack. All other cylinders appear to have steady spark with in line tester.

I will look up the ohm checks on the timer base just to exhaust all venues. I am less comfortable with what I cannot test out right (no dva meter)….sure do wish I could just polish the points….oh well

Yeah, it could be a sensor problem…You could swap sensor leads to see if the problem stays on the current cylinder, which would indicate a bad pack…This is the simple system, with simple sensors, so the problem is most likely the pack….But, do the ohm meter tests anyway. Look for bad connections in the amphenol connector(s) as well.

          Update…

My friend/owner of the boat/motor found a power pack after befriending some mechanics who had a nos pack. Fixed the problem, motor runs good now.

For the rest of the story…..he has the motor on a 1991 permit flats boat. Likely sold b/c of the motor issues (we found some others and fixed). Of course advertised to run fine but they all do

In the time looking for the pack and getting frustrated he purchased a 1992 (I think) 200 v6 looper with the 1:1 lower unit and snub nose exhaust. He bought it Friday for a very good price, it runs fine, test drove on Allison hull. Found the pack today.

          What a dilemma

Thanks to all for the help.

Perhaps CDI can rebuild your busted pack, so you will have it in the future.
