Anyone know what this OMC tool 311873 is for ? An inch from the closed end there is a 1/8" hole with a clip on the inside of the tool.
Overall length is 14 5/8". Outside dia is 1 1/2" . inside dia 1 1/4" thanks Jim PSB

According to my copy of the 1976 Special Tool catalog it is an installer – bearing race for inner bearing #379593 on intermediate housing driveshaft of ball gear. For all 80 – 245hp stern drives. I believe that would be about 1964 to about 1976 give or take a few years. I think the hole was to hang it up on a wall board for organization.
