The eye bolt on the round puller is 3/8 and it has been used successfully to lift motors much heavier than any of the OMC classics. The heaviest one it has been used with so far would be a Yamaha 50 four-stroke and several T9.9’s. You have to remember that it is a slow and constant force being applied to it, not a force anywhere near strong enough to test its tensile strength. Even when allowing for the depth of the threads, I’m sure it’s more than adequate for its intended purpose. The nut and washer on the hidden side add a bit of insurance.
Here’s a couple more items that have been used for lifting motors. They were made in a pinch and on the last count, I still had all my toes and fingers!
