      A water pump of some sort. Is it outboard/inboard related? Bought it in a pile of parts at an auction.

        Ok, I am going to venture a guess. I am going to say that it is for an inboard/outboard possibly. What brand, who knows but if I were to guess, I would say Crosley or Elgin which used Crosley engines in a vertical position. The slots are for mounting and adjusting the belt tension for the water pump.
