That motor was produced for several years as an Evinrude and as Sea King. Does it have a tag like this? I need the number to correctly ID your motor. Tubs

yes that looks like the tag on it and the first 3 numbers are 432 also someone told me it was an elto ace but it don’t look like the ones that are pictured. I checked the chart if I’m reading it right it is a 1933 2.2hp.

Hi, I have the serial number rangers for Evinrude outboards from 1929-1960 in The Old Outboard Book by Peter Hunn, if you find the serial number the years for them according to the book are:

          1929   11,616-13,926

          1930   13,927-15,782

          1931   15,783-9,990

          1932   16,991-17889

          1933   20,000-20,930

          1934   20,931-22,534

          1935   22,535-25,096

          1936   25,097-29,174

          1937   29,175-33,434

          1938   33.435-39,155

          1939   39,156-43,565

          1940   43,566-47,252

1941-1944 there was no outboards made by Evinrude according to the book.

          1945   47,253-48,748

          1946   48,749-55,511

          1947   55,156-68,210

          1948   68,211-80,312

          1949   80,313-95,877

I don’t think it would go into the 1950s or later because they switched to a recoil starter around mid 1940s or so if I remember correctly.

does the shafts being made of brass mean it was made for salt water?

For the most part, motors from this time, with brass lower units, are considered salt water motors. Your motor looks to be in unusually nice original condition and many here would feel preserving the original decals would give it more historical value than replace them, if they are even available. am I missing something   I have checked some other pictures, and I might be missing a magneto or coil did they make them without one or built into the top. I see the spark plug wire coming out of the top of the motor going to the plug. I do have compression I haven’t checked for spark yet. ThankSANY0011

Coil, points, and condenser are under the flywheel.
