      Hello,
My name is Joe and I live in NJ. I am hoping you can help me find two replacement parts for my 1953 Chris Craft Challenger Outboard. It was given to me as a young boy by my Grandfather and just recently, due to the pandemic, I started to look at it to see if I could get it running again.

I need the Lead–High Tension wires (Spark plug wires), OEM part number 10-52370 and the two coils, OEM part number 10-38222Y. One of the wires is a little longer than the other-fyi.

I am told by my buddy that is helping me get this motor running again that Mercury may have compatible parts. Their part #’s are M30-207 and M30-208 since the wires are different lengths, Their coil part # is KD4-2 and KD4-3. I am told that the Marine part number for a compatible coil is 399-125-fyi

If you would be so kind to point me to a source I would appreciate your help.

      thank you
      Joe Wyland

The coils are the same as used on Green Top Mercuries made by Bendix. The coils are no longer made if you could find some NOS they might cost $120 each. The good news there are some Military Surplus Coils on eBay that will fit. The spark wire connector is located on the side and a small modification is needed to make them fit.. As to the plug wires just buy some 7mm twisted copper plug wire. You need to be creative to keep these old motors running.
