June 6, 2017 at 1:40 am #59087This guy is calling his a 12 horse also, so
I guess that’s what you have!

June 6, 2017 at 1:49 am #59091It has the Unobtanium coils. And check that propeller. I don’t see how it cools with that thing on there. It will keep you awake. Those things are loud
June 6, 2017 at 3:42 am #59101Clearly the prop is not right! The guy tried using the brass prop as a selling feature! I just laughed. One cylinder has spark. I’m hoping the other just needs the points cleaned. Do you think it is a Sea King?
Would they make a 12HP motor with no neutral or reverse? I see no shift lever on this motor.

It clearly is a Goodyear Sea Bee 12, made by Gale. But Gale also made the same motor for Wards, and labeled it Sea King. They also labeled the same motor as Buccaneer. And probably a couple more.
Yep, it is pull rope, hang on, and go.
June 6, 2017 at 1:40 pm #59122Doesn’t show up in the picture, but the prop has holes in it that force-feed water to the pump intake.
June 6, 2017 at 2:35 pm #59123Well Frank. According to that diagram, I am going to need a few parts before I can use this motor.
Maybe I can just drill holes in this prop!! (JK)
Next stop…classifieds. Unless you have those parts for sale???June 6, 2017 at 2:51 pm #59124Your motor looks awfully similar to a ’50 Elto Speedster under the paint and it should pump water like a fire truck when it’s running. Don’t forget, 8:1 fuel mix on these bad boys!
June 6, 2017 at 3:26 pm #59126The good ole days when dad could buy an outboard motor, tune-up parts for the car, and mom could buy a new stove all in one trip. Christmas could be bought for the entire family, even toys for the kids. My dad worked in a similar auto supply/home store back in the 50’s. I remember the time when they converted to just auto supply parts. Dad and mom bought a whole house full of clearance items due to the owner giving his employees first shot at them. That Christmas was a toy haul for us kids. Never was the same after that. I watched the store gradually slow down and close when NAPA and other suppliers came on the scene. I have a small collection of ads, a couple outboards, and small stuff from that era.
