          quote Huntleybill:

Ahhhh…so what your saying s I could make this Goodyear a Sea King Just by changing the paint and the decal!
          Hmmmmmmmm!

The model number would give it away….

1948 Gale 12 hp model numbers:

          Atlas Royal: 2A8
          Goodyear Sea Bee: 025-3565
          Hiawatha: 840MI-25-7980A
          Sea King: 84GG-9017A
          Viking: C2W8

2X8 is the Gale designation (where the letter says who they were making it for)
The Viking gets a leading "C" for Canada

its a 1948 GOODYEAR SEA BEE MADE by GALE-early models had NO NEUTRAL or REVERSE—same as SEA KING-ROYAL-ELTO-BROOKLURE-etc–same powerhead as EVINRUDE 14hp FASTWIN–they actually were not detuned 14 hp —labeled 12 hp but actual 14hp–for a couple years before the KG7 mercs they were the HOT COTTAGE RACER-3/4 price of evinrude/johnson/mercury-they had a slimer lower unit than later gear shift models-and with 14hp-not the 12hp stated- they could beat other brands 10hp models-water pump was behind the propeller-key style with water pump inlets in the propeller-its missing the rear spark plug cover-it had 4 part side covers–
