I have just purchased a motor which some members have helped me identify as a 1941 Champion 2G Viking Twin (opposed twin) 5.3 hp model. The motor is overpainted (badly) with a cheap silver paint. I cannot seem to find any pictures online of how this should look: decals etc. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to restore it to look original

Would that be a Viking as sold by Eatons? I didn’t know they sourced any from Champion, but I certainly don’t know everything. Anyhoo, Richard Paquette is the Eatons Viking guru.

Viking was just a model name that Champion used. No relation to the Canada built Viking.

Looks like they only made the Viking model two years.
I couldn’t find any photos online either, but curious as
            to what the look like.

Yeah, production would have been halted by WWII.
I guess I should have known it wasn’t an Eatons. Here’s the owners manual

I just bought one at a Great lakes meet Saturday. Mine too is a 2G 1941 Champion Viking. but mine does not have the 1940 playboy type fuel tank as shown in the Manual. mine is  like a 1920s Johnson. Of course, its stamped steel. You can tell it was painted hammer silver and I can read the word Viking on the starboard top of the tank. and see the blue and red strip decal that goes all around the tank. So it must be the original. my serial # is 10204

I cant figure out how the throttle works as the linkage to synchronize the mag and carb are missing. It was stuck but came loose as soon as I tryed to take the flywheel nut off.
