I a collecting these wonderful of stands with wheels. They work so well and do such a great job presenting my small motor restorations. I would like to know who manufactured these and where they were built. I would like to know if someone has an old picture from a catalogue or brochure. Thanks for any help with this.
February 17, 2025 at 10:37 am #294172Yes, that is a classic design and very well engineered for the job at hand. I have seen many of this style but have no info on the manufacturer. The loop out front is a bit of a curiosity, I guess that it was intended for a fuel tank, but most small motors of the classic era had integral tanks??

February 17, 2025 at 2:43 pm #294175Thanks for your reply. The handle is on this stand to pull the motor around via the wheels. The handle is pulled into the up position and then the stand is just tipped forward a few degree and it wheels around freely. I have seen small stands with a gas tank holder and this stand is not built to do that. Still hoping that someone has a picture of one of these in a catalogue or advertisement that will show us who made these. Thanks for looking. Paul
February 19, 2025 at 6:26 am #294222I have the exact same stand that came along with a mint 1955 Evinrude Fleetwin, so I would guess that they were sold at that time. Mine has “Firestone” tires, but no other branding is shown.
February 19, 2025 at 9:36 am #294225Thanks very much for your reply. My stand also had fantastic Firestone tires as well and they are in fantastic shape. Someone I think will have this stand in a boating catalogue or sales brochure or magazine ad. I sure would like to find that documentation and a pic of that advertisement. Thanks to you. Paul

Now as to the manufacturer, the question remains. Note the stand price is FOB Minneapolis MN. Martins were produced in Eau Claire WI. . Most likely, some metal fab / jobber in Minneapolis manufactured the stands. Maybe an ad from the actual manufacturer is still out there somewhere.

February 22, 2025 at 9:06 am #294298David and Joe thanks for much for this fantastic update on my Motor stand search. This really helps as it is the first picture I have seen of an ad for this product. Can anyone tell from the picture what the date of the MARTIN motor would be in the picture. It must be a 50s small hp motor. Thanks. Paul
