It is a filler block on early 80’s V4 intake manifolds. Is this simply to keep oil/fuel mix from pooling up behind the leaf valves?
It’s #54 on the diagram in the link below. Pulled apart a V4 for parts and saw these, was wondering what they were for.

Filling in the block also boosts the crankcase compression a bit to push a little more fuel through the engine to get a little more horse power. . .
Ah, yes. The old “stuffing the crankcase” trick.
