A friend is restoring a 1949 boat and wants to put a period correct PO-15 on it.

Are the 1947, 1948, and 1949 PO-15 identical in appearance, to include the decals and paint?

If not, what are the differences?

      Thanks.

I don’t believe there were any differences in the decals or paint. There may have been minor differences in the exhaust relief in the muffler tube. If I am wrong you may be assured I will quickly be corrected. The Evinrude Speeditwin had several changes in there lower unit. . . . 😆

          Garry is right!

The 1949 does not have the relief exhaust valve on the side of the exhaust tube. It has multiple holes drilled on the back of the exhaust tube. I happen to like that design and I"ve had several PO’s. That design, if you do a lot of idling, keeps exhaust smoke off the transom and tends to be a little quieter at idle.
