      I have noticed that the hardest part is removing the big defects.
      Once you have used 400 grit paper, sanding with 600 – 1000 – 1500 -2000 (and 2500 if you have it) is really a fast job.

      At this point, you can have a really clean result by buffing by hand with a polish paste for cars without the use of a wheel buffer.

      I once polished a part made of cast iron for a car. The first step with done with a Dewalt grinder. It’s been a lot of work until using paste 🙂

        I found this post many years ago from a gentleman who polishes motorcycle frames for a living. It is very informative but also funny (don’t view if you are easily offended by profanity)
