I have a variable pitch prop 8.25" dia The only id is M60 stamped on the hub. I think it might fit some 1950’s Champion.

CAN ANY ONE ID THIS PROP, USED ON INFO, AND THE PITCH RANGE.

      THANKS

I can find an M60 listed for Muncie 9A,10A,11A etc. Book says three-blade alum 9X9, so that might not be the one…

Variable pitched props have been around since 1898. Caille had them for many years. several companies produced various configurations in the early ’50s. One I recall had fixed blades and was sold with the idea that if you damaged a blade, you could replace it cheaper than buying a new propeller. Another was spring loaded so at an idle it had a lower pitch. This gave it a slower idle and faster acceleration. At faster speeds water pressure overcame the spring tension and increased the pitch for fast cruising. One was adjustable by loosening a set screw and turning an adjusting collar. The one was adjustable by remote control. . . 😀
