Here’s the data I have:
Boat weighs 420 lbs dry,
Usually going to be 2 people,
54" transom width,
70 hp max,
I am not looking to race, but it would be cool to take off fairly quickly!
Thanks,
John
Finally getting back to this…..
Need some more prop info, I’m new to this after all!
Why two blade versus three?
I don’t want to go super fast, but getting outta the hole quick would be cool.
Thanks,
John

Two blades tend, at least with the old stuff we deal with, to be higher performance props. For general purpose, three blade aluminums are the way to go. If you can get a Tiny Tach and use that when testing props, all the better. You’re looking for max RPM in the 4500 range on those old Big Twins. Maybe a little on the fat side, but not much. Better to be able to spin a little high than to lug them low.
Finding a pair of identical props shouldn’t be an issue. Find some part numbers for what you’re looking for are start hitting eBay or our own Web ads.
