Picked these up off a venders table at a car show
yesterday. Had a display of motors there and a
spectator told me he had seen some brass props
on one of the tables. When I found him he had
both brass and stainless. Stainless is what is on
the Hot Rod I picked up last fall and what I see
they are using at Tomahawk on the Super Ten’s.
So not knowing what they may be for, what they
fit, or if they have any value at all I took a gamble.
These were the only ones I took. I left the brass
ones. He wanted more money for them so I passed.
I understand about paying for your education.
So now that I’ve already paid, what do I learn?
Should of took the brass ones too?
What motors would they be used on?
Should I have left them all on the table?A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
April 16, 2017 at 5:55 pm #56199Tubs, years ago I remember seeing a couple of Mercury Racing Props that started with 48. Maybe this can help you chase it down further

Merc class D (4cyl/40 cuin) Utility runabout boat DU racing the 48- could be a Merc part number, I will look for that later if no one else gets it done first.
April 16, 2017 at 6:25 pm #56204They look like "D" Quicksilver props to me. The Johnson Propeller Company of Oakland California also made some, as did Michigan Wheel with there AquaJet series. . . 😉
April 16, 2017 at 6:35 pm #56205The 48-24588 is a D Utility prop for a MK40H or a MK55H.
April 16, 2017 at 6:46 pm #56207Does this mean you are being drawn to the Dark Side now? 😮
You’re going to need a motor to turn those props!
April 16, 2017 at 7:56 pm #56212I used a highly modified Evinrude Lightfour Imperial to turn mine. I had to sleeve it down and put in another shear pin hole, but the 8X11 "D" Quicksilver worked fine on my "A" racer. Drove the gang with there "A" Quicksilver Mercuries CRAZY. This is a picture of my dad driving my "stock" Lightfoot. It would only run 34. What you use it on depends on the horsepower of the motor and the size of the boat, but the gear turning the propshaft must be in the back . . . 😆

Very cool photo Garry.
April 19, 2017 at 10:53 pm #56391Guys is it my imagination, or what, it looks to me like those props are left handed? My Mark55 turns the other way. Maybe the H is left spinner? My KF7 turns left, but they look to big for that old timer. They are pretty though! Might look good hanging on the wall somewhere!
