Hello, I have read many topics here about the poorly desighned lip seal that was tried on the 1955 Johnson 25 HP. engine. But just recently read some topics that said it was possible to replace the lip seal with the tried and true carbon ring seal.I have one of the engines that has the lip seal. I did not want to invest any money in it because of the inferior lip seal issue. If possible what parts would be needed to retro fit back to carbon seal and what would be the procedure on the engine to make this happen. Regards Bill,

You have to split the case and replace the lower bearing, along with all the carbon seal parts. Simply use the parts list for motors that had the carbon seal.
