Anyone know what happened to the retrocrestliner site? Tried to login and found that the site was down. I know that some here were on that site. Wonder what happened to all the valuable information that was there?
KirkAugust 2, 2021 at 10:36 pm #244171Hey Kirk!
Good to see you posting!I ran into the same thing awhile back. Pamela says she’s going to shut it down in August and put up a new page on FB. Says there are too many spammers and junk to deal with. I don’t think anyone has posted on that site since about February. I imagine all that stuff will be lost? Sad.
Hey! Aren’t you supposed to be here at Tomahawk?
ScottAugust 3, 2021 at 10:26 am #244198The retrocrestliner site quit accepting posts early this year, and had developed a few other bugs, but until a couple days ago, you could still see most of what was there, like catalogs, old posts, etc. Now it appears Pamala has taken the site down and given up the domain name. You get a site that, at the bottom, says the name is no longer supported, but that site just gives you links to boat sites unrelated to collectors/restorers. Hopefully she will get a facebook site up and running soon. The Crestliner registry was started by another person who maintained the spreadsheet, so that will probably be accessible again sometime.
Meanwhile, a few of us here are into old Crestliners, and me and probably others will be happy to answer Crestliner questions here if we can. The Ask a Member board occasionally gets a boat question.
DaveAugust 3, 2021 at 11:24 am #244208I was poking around Facebook and found a site called “Vintage Crestliner Boats”.. This is not the site Pamela talked about starting because the site says it’s been around since 2013. I just requested to join so will see soon what it’s all about. Link below.
DaveAugust 3, 2021 at 3:32 pm #244231I just found this afternoon that the retrocrestliner.com site is dead. A few months ago I found the forum was not accepting new posts. However, quite a bit of the site is available on the Wayback Machine (archive.org). For example: https://web.archive.org/web/20190422234717/http://retrocrestliner.com/1955crestliner%20catalog.htm. The catalog images I tried did come up.
Would it be possible for AOMCI to host an archive of the site? I’m not clear on what’s involved.
The shutdown of Yahoogroups also caused a huge loss of valuable information (boo-hiss Evil Verizon).
August 3, 2021 at 4:12 pm #244234I still miss Boatinfo.com. Lots of data there.
If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.
August 3, 2021 at 6:13 pm #244238That “Wayback Machine” is cool! This is the first I’ve heard of it.
I wonder if Mr. Peabody and his boy, Sherman are responsible for the Wayback Machine??!! (LOL!).
For those here too young to know, The Wayback Machine was in a cartoon as a time machine, invented by a genius dog, Mr. Peabody. The cartoon, “Peabody’s Improbably History” was part of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon group.

August 3, 2021 at 10:34 pm #244254Hey Scott, thanks for the info on retro crestliner site. Wish I could have been at Tomahawk. Maybe next year. Buy anything of interest?
