So, I did a really dumb thing. At least I think I did.

I ordered a rotor from ebay, $$$ OUCH

Unless these things are supposed to fit loose and swell as they get used, I think I got took. Of course I didn’t notice “no returns” when I made the purchase.

Anyway, can anyone confirm that the rotor (as new) is supposed to fit snugly into the housing?

      Pics attached.

I think your new one is okay. The eccentric on the prop shaft wobbles the impeller
around like a hula hoop, causing it to squeeze water toward the discharge.

Your old impeller is so swelled up, there’s no room to have any “wobble” action,
        and hence, not pump.

        Prepare to be boarded!

John – I concur with Buc.   Take a look again at the picture I sent you last night showing the new wobbler I put in a Sea King.

Thanks, I have read the term ‘wobbler’ on the site and although I wasn’t certain, I thought the term meant rotor. So it makes sense to me now, I appreciate the information.

Thx Bob, I looked back at that pic and sure enough! It didn’t strike me then, but now I see it.

                Thx again

John, I wouldn’t throw away the old one. Maybe sand down the outside diameter to match the new one and save it for a spare, or your next project. I’d use a belt sander to ensure all side edges are nice and square. maybe could have done that and saved $$$. These things are not rocket science. The “tail” on your old one still looks unworn, often that part gets worn and loose in its slot, the “tail” actually seals the input side of the “wobble” from the output side.

Good idea Joe! I’ve already got my eye on a couple of other motors so saving the $$ is gonna be important.

When they swell up, they are also softer and too loose fitting on the cam to function. Sanding won’t work unless the cam fit is also repaired.
