I bought a group of motors recently.
One of them "All or Nothing" deals.
This was one of them. It had the
remains of a Sea King decal but no
numbers that I could find on it. It
was a 2 cylinder but likely no more
than 3 hp. I didn’t have room for all
of them so I gave a few away this
being one of them. This is the only
picture I have. I thought one day I
would run across one but as yet that
haven’t happened. On the back of the
gas tank it has what looks like one
half of a hinge and I’m really curious
as to its purpose. I did find these
pictures of what looks like larger hp.
model on the internet but no
explanation of what it is. Surely
someone here is into these and can
tell me about this "Rare" or more likely
"Motor of little interest".A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

talking about the one on the stand…
I put my money on a Montgomery Ward "Sea King " form the mid or late 40ties , 5 horse
so that one in your truck is not more than 3 hp
looks like an Evinrude clone but the Viking name is also spinning in my head
strange model btw
other ideas, to correct me please, are welcome here 😎
.November 2, 2016 at 6:23 pm #46887Single clamp? I had one that looked like that. It was an Evinrude-built Sea King 3.3hp from 1940 or 41 if I recall correctly.
November 2, 2016 at 6:38 pm #46888I have one like that. Model 378/8823, 3.3hp. Built bewteen 1941-1942. The lower on mine is different though. May be that is a model 371/373, 5hp. #8816 or 8817

What is the deal with the hinge type
deal on the rear of the tank.
Have any pictures?A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
November 3, 2016 at 3:34 pm #46935I believe that was just a styling feature to differentiate it from other models. Holes in the corners were frequently used for remote steering. . . 🙂

Your mention of the "hinge" like affair on the back of your Wards
sounded familiar, and I finally remembered to look in my
collection. I find one with the same hinge like apparatus.
Mine has a heavy wire attached to it in a "bail shape",
obviously used for a handle, but I have no idea if the wire is
original. Anyway, mine is a……
