If you go to Searspartsdirect.com and search for 7.5hp outboard motor several models come up. you can search through them to find the one that matches yours. The model number you gave is for the block assembly, there should be a tag on the transom bracket with the model number. It should start with something like 217-. A quick search of ignition part numbers from the Sears site shows many parts available on Amazon.

October 9, 2024 at 11:43 am #291433On Posting Pics: To post pics on this forum they need to be under 2 Mega-Bytes (MB). That is accomplished on your computer or phone or tablet by “re-sizing” and/or “compressing” the image.
If you are not familiar with doing that maybe a family member or friend could do it for you?
I sent you a Personal Message (PM).

October 9, 2024 at 5:20 pm #291443nice video… if the coil resistances are ok usually a few ohms on primary and 4-8kohms on secondary for the OMC type coils anyway..
I would just replace the rusty condenser and test the sparks after burnishing the points with 150 grit paper followed with an acetone swipe.

October 15, 2024 at 9:55 am #291518My photos are always too many MB. I take a screenshot of the photo and it reduces the size to KB. I don’t know if there’s an easier way to get a pic under 2 MB.
