I have acquired an early Johnson twin (steel tiller bar, cast tank, etc.), but the serial number has been stamped over.  If anyone can ID the original serial number, I’d appreciate it.  See the attached photo.  Also, where was the serial number stamped on the crankcase?  I cannot find one on this motor.

      Thanks,

      T

        Good morning.

        Possible “A” numbers: 19450, 9540, 10450.

The 1st or 2nd number look to be a “o”. That given, there would be another number in front of it, making it a 1 being its a model “A”.

I’m currently working on an A-35 and also wanted to know if the serial number is stamped elsewhere. I’ve read that the serial number was also stamped on the underside of the crankcase on one of the jugs?

I’m having trouble attaching the model/serial#/year reference I’ll try again late.

            I’m reading 10450 over-stamped with A5350.

Thanks, all.  The motor is, indeed, A 5350.  Someone must have re-stamped a later plate to match the motor.
