John, from what I hear, its common for that front rubber mount to be broken, Looking on flea bay, most replacements are about $50, Being cheap, I looked for a less expensive fix. I believe that I have found the solution, a universal bubbe vibration isolator ( mcMaster Carr #9213K18 – $4.62) is just the right size to replace the sheared off rubber in the motor mount. Drill, tap and install. All looks good, I will report back on total success once I get the motor re- assembled.

There was a gentleman on here years ago mentioned using a hose clamp around that mount. I don’t remember what the results were.

A hose clamp would not work , that front rubber mount needs to flex, both fore and aft as well as some slight port and starboard movement. I think that all of the multi-directional movement is why that mount tends to fail. The rubber vulcanized to the metal parts just fails.
