I was reading a 1948 outboard book last night,
      and it mentioned "Skipper" outboards.
I’ve never heard of that one.
An internet search says they were made by
Muncie Gear Works, but that it wasn’t known
who sold them, i.e., a certain hardware store.

Anyone have a photo of one or old advertisements
that might say who sold them?

I suppose they were only good for a "three hour cruise" 😉

Always a lot of interesting information to be had at Discount Marine Parts. Although….it might not answer your specific question.

SeaK, Discount Marine site is where I found what little info there was.
Did find a couple ads on Ebay, but they didn’t say what store sold them.

                first link mentioned
"Their outboard motor history and production starts in 1930. Muncie Gear Works, made motors under many brands such as Muncie, Neptune,Sea Gull, Skipper, Mighty Mite and also Sea King brand for Montgomery Wards, as well as the Motorgo and Waterwitch brands for Sears Roebuck and Company."

Here’s one I saw awhile back. I believe this one is air cooled. I didn’t purchase it..maybe should have?

Goman, I don’t think Muncie Gear Works had anything to
do with that one. Looks like it has Eska DNA.

A "Boat House Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Peter Hunn’s Old Outboard Handbook repeats the info in the links above about Eska and Muncie. He also writes: "It appears that Skipper also contracted some from OMC-Gale"
