In the Studebaker Drivers Club, we have the option of magazine or no magazine with 1/3 the cost of regular membership.
January 28, 2024 at 4:36 pm #284411Here is my understanding of how the AOMCI de-volved itself on facebook. This WordPress FREE SITE that a huge commotion was made of how good it was- well when it debuted it was neither good nor functional, so the floodgates at the facebook AOMCI group were opened up for one and all.
As a person who has other hobbies and knows of many hobby groups, there are ZERO DUES COLLECTING HOBBY GROUPS who give the whole store away on facebook or other social media. It is the DEATH of any dues collecting club to do so. See how 19,500 people think the club is free. The correct and professional thing to do would have been for AOMCI board or them to delegate a member or members to come up with ATTRACTIVE CONTENT in the form of MEETS NEWS, GREAT PHOTOS OF MEETS, GREAT PHOTOS OF COLLECTIONS and ********snippets******* of free technical knowledge designed to make the old outboard motor lover want MORE of that.
It’s been said in this thread that the greatest part of this club IS the technical knowledge. It surely isn’t dot matrix photos in behind the times (technology) magazine and it SURELY is NOT this website that draw people in. From the start this website, FREE WARE THAT IT IS, repelled people away. And we have an executive board that doesn’t care. They keep repeating that it’s an awesome site even though that won’t come true. This is why I UN-JOINED a while back. Zero craps given at the captain’s helm and/or no idea that anything is ‘wrong”.
if the club will not admit to and recognize that this website is an absolute piece of trash that now CANNOT COMPETE with ease of use of and MASSIVE USERSHIP OF facebook and start over with a REAL actually-developed-by-a-professional site then the club might as well just close down and say it’s sorry. But the problem is that nobody will admit what time it is (getting ready for insolvency) over the last administration’s at once LETHARGY with ideas to bring in new members / SEVERE allergic reactions to suggestions from members on how to improve. Looks like nothing will be done, like usual.

the AOMCI website is not up to pare and is not a useful resource! That is
why I am on FB outboard groups!
I can’t even use my iPhone to type without the different spacing that’s happening here? Its not me, this website sux. Not iPhone friendly!
The AOMCI Executive Council needs to SHUT Down the NON Member Facebook AOMCI page or at least change the name!
February 7, 2024 at 4:28 pm #284729Personally, I don’t think this site is friendly at all. When we had the “previous” site, I was on here constantly! EVERY DAY!. Now I go weeks or months between visits, because I don’t enjoy the site. It’s that simple.
I will say that the information I get here is accurate and informative, whereas a lot of the info on the FB page is downright hilarious. You get what you pay for, more or less.
I just wish I got a more user friendly site for my membership dollars!
Thanks for listening.
