Where is a good source for OMC coils. Last ones I got came from Sierra and were made in Germany. They don’t seem to sell those coils any more. I looked on Amazon and that place is full of junk from China.
August 5, 2024 at 9:15 pm #289639actually I have installed several junkies from China and they worked fine. but… some do seem to have high secondary resistance
like 8-9 kohms but properly set up they work .
I am certain some have had bad experiences but you do not have to much choice ..even OEM stuff today seems lower in quality … like points

August 5, 2024 at 10:13 pm #289640These are the one I use. I don’t know where they are made. They do cost more but I haven’t had any issues. Here is a video link. https://youtu.be/2yvUCZjfNhw?si=CHEn-O2huj8RDxr- Tubs

August 6, 2024 at 9:20 am #289645Here are some that are cheaper. Probably be able to get then for $10.00 a piece. (or best offer) Even use the CDI part number in there listing. I didn’t think that is what Deathwish was looking for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/374582024559?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=hknkbxyxq4k&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=_-YLkpExSsW&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Tubs

I did find a Sierra site that had them at $30.00 ea, although they do not say where they are made. I also found some OEM ones that were about the same price. I will also check out CDI ones. They will be going into a fishing motor that gets regular use so I don’t want any cheap stuff. I just replaced a set of Chinese coils on my lawn tractor. One lasted two months and the other one month.
August 7, 2024 at 9:55 am #289672I use to get them from a marine supply com. but they are no longer on eBay. I’ve haven’t purchased any from this listing. I haven’t been able find them any cheaper if you decide to go with these coils. Small discount for 2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274365679727 Tubs
August 8, 2024 at 2:24 am #289700I recently bought 2 on ebay for $21.00. The secondary readings were both 7.8 kohms. They work fine, but the laminations were off as they were stacked funny. Had to do a little grinding to keep the flywheel from hitting the laminations. I would use these to adapt the coils to other outboard brand magnetos.
August 8, 2024 at 10:14 am #289710Home depot.com. search CDI electronics. The coil 183-4477 is $22.57 with free shipping.
