Hi. Does anyone know of where I can buy a couple of these? They’re the zert that is welded/attached to an old spark plug that is used to apply pressure to a stuck motor. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Anyway I seem to have lost my only one custom made for me years ago. I seem to recall a club member that made and sold them?? Any help would be great Thanks Ken

I’m not sure if they are available commercially. It would seem that someone could make a few bucks at a meet by having some available for sale. I got mine from a friend (Thanks Steve!) who made it in his shop. Doesn’t take much if you have access to a welder and an old spark plug.

Auto parts store may be able to help.
A friend asked me to make up a batch a while back.
Start with spark plugs with thread types you may need,
Due to design differences some brands of spark plugs are less work than
          others.
Hard part is cutting tapered thread for Zerk fitting.

Grease gun technique can free up a stuck piston OR crack open a cast
iron cylinder, It is a quick all or nothing method that may produce
desired or undesired results. It is usually obvious when a powerhead
is so badly corroded..not likely to respond well to grease gun technique
Grease gun works well with light to moderate stuck pistons….if two or
more pistons are stuck in multi cylinder motor.it usually had not ended
          well for me.
It is best to have several alternative techniques and the wisdom and
patience to use that which offers the best chance of a good outcome
          not just fast results.

I’ve made a few for my own use, i think the hard part is knocking out the porceline insulator. The steel is soft and you can run a 3/8 pipe tap through it rather easily. Most recently i got a Johnson A-25 to turn only one side was stuck. Kinda messy to clean up afterwords.

Thanks for the replies. I think I’ll have a go at making one. I have found them successful the past. I agree they make a mess to clean up. Thanks Ken

fill the cyl up with rope to take up some room less grease to clean up.

What motor are you working on?
What size spark plug? 14mm or 18mm?

I would suggest pre soaking with GIBBS or MARVEL MYSTERY OIL first.
On my last stuck motor a 1933 NEPTUNE you can see the oil leaking
                      Down past the rings.
