I removed the cable, hung it up, and flushed it out with mineral spirits. What came out was very black, black enough to make me wonder if it was lubed with something containing graphite or moly di. Anybody know?

The consensus on lubing these (the cable itself, not the ends) seems to be to use something thin like ATF or synthetic motor oil. Thoughts?

Check the website for Teleflex or Morse. They have diagrams on exactly what to measure.

This job has proven a bit resistant. I tried putting things back the way they originally were (apparently). No way the cable doesn’t jam against the side of the hole either in running position or tilted. Playing around with clamps and scraps of wood, I can find a position that works for both, but it will look like the kludge that it is. Feels like I must be missing something.
