Hello, I have this Stevens tester… bought it at a rummage sale a little while back, and it came with 3 manuals. I can’t seem to find out what model you would call this? It works great….

I suppose it must have a model number, but the only thing I’ve ever seen it called in service manuals is the "Old Stevens Tester".

Trade you for a working Merc-o-tronic. Always wanted a Stevens, My car 12v charger is flat scary with multi taps @ maybe 40 amperes on 1 winding alone multi sec’s. Enjoy electronics & build scary high voltage toys without covers….hey it’s fun 😯

"Old Stevens Tester" gotta love it !
It is nice having the optional rectifier… puts out a nice steady 6 v, at 25 pounds, it should be steady!

If you don’t have a Merc O Tronic you can’t go wrong trading Jeff. The Merc O Tronic will test Coils, Capacitors and make resistance checks.

Oh, 25 pounds ….. the thing is heavy! It still has the original selenium rectifier in there….. we bypassed it and added a modern silicon one.
Thanks for the offer with the trade, a mercotronic sounds really nice, but this thing is really cool! Plus, it matches up with the vintage of what I have been collecting lately…

The thing that the old Stevens tester can do, what no other tester can do, is test opposed firing coils at the same time…… from each spark plug end.

                        You mean like this?
I think it’s fun the manual actually mentions the coils I am testing…… all the way back to 1926!
