      Hello,
I’m looking for any ideas on how to put a standard transom mounting setup on my stormboat motor. Or if anyone knows the list of motors with the same tower as the big four I would appreciate it. I can take the list and put it in the classifieds and maybe come up with some parts.
      Thanks,
      Aaron

I would check with Richard White, if I remember correctly he made some modifications on one of his motors
to accommodate a standard transom. I am sure he will see your post and chime in.

Richard, I’ve been working with Aaron on this also. The only clamp bracket that will work correctly is of course, the Big Four. However there were some that used a Johnson PO style clamp bracket but the thrust socket has to be modified. The B-4 I sold Steve Wood years ago was done that way, and Steve has run that rig a lot!

Thanks guys! I do appreciate emails! I was hoping that evinrude had used the same tower across different models. I found some modern transom brackets, think they are off a 90. I’m going to see if I can modify them to bolt up to each side of the bracket+ the tower tilts on, for now. Hopefully I will come across a Big Four tower one day!

I have seen a Bigfour/Stormboat, powerhead mounted to the smaller speedifour/ speeditwin tower with a few modifications, i.e. Slotting the holes.
Don’t know that I’d do that.
It’d depend what you wanted to do with it, or just running occasionally. Might be ok, in my opinion.

I had heard that back in the mid to late 1940s one of the west coast racers/motor builders/parts suppliers cast a Evinrude Speeditwin driveshaft housing in bronze for "C" service racing.. It was also used for P500 pumper "F" racing conversions. I personally have never seen one.
I am very happy you posted here because it is easier to post pictures here.
                  . . 😎

This is the best lower unit. It was patterned off one dad modified.

Wow, Thanks Garry! I’m going to have to put some of this up on my shop wall.
