None Whatsoever! If anyone had greased it putting it back together that
got burnt away with the several “torchings”.
The coils appeared to be original, so maybe the sucker was never
off in the last 56 years!
Good for you, I admire your persistence for sure. I’m sure a decent flywheel should be easy to find, unless that Gale flywheel is unique for some reason…

Fleetwin, thanks for the offer. I have a $30 flywheel coming. The 62 Gale flywheel part number
shows the same as the somewhat later Evinrude and Johnson 28 and 40 hp.
I have one from a 28 hp coming. Looks the same in the photo, other than it has
a ring gear. My manual start one did not. Presume that’s not a problem.
“D” = “Deluxe”, a relic term left over from the days when they made a “Standard’ model
“E” = “Electric” Start
“G” = “Generator”, Electric start, plus has a factory-installed generator kit.
