You can remix the crankcase juices back in the fuel tank . The only oil and fuel to reach the lake will be from a small % of new fuel/oil bypassing on the cyl up stroke.
ok back to the beauty….rig…beauty is more important than speed at an older age 🙂

Read post on Oil & envirement. Great educational data!
October 1, 2023 at 2:36 pm #281169I would not replace the motor unless you have a need to operate where 2 stroke engines are no longer tolerated.
What’s the problem with synchronization of spark and throttle? This is generally a pretty simple matter. Some big twins have a more complicated linkage that could take a bit of effort to figure out, but I doubt yours has that additional complexity. People here will know.
October 2, 2023 at 9:39 am #281200to service your oldy you can try downloading the Johnson bible and print it locally double sided. not Evinrude but they are cousins 🙂 (same father)

October 5, 2023 at 8:38 pm #281360Thank you, amuller. The synchronization process that I have tried is in the attachment. Does it seem correct to you?
What baffels me the most is the fact that loosening the two bolts for the throttle cam does not let it move at all.

Kind of hard to follow with no pictures. I’m wondering if this engine uses the “economizer linkage”? If so, I was guessing that it might not be set right causing a lack of power due to only partial opening of the carburetor butterfly at WOT.
Charles: feel free to post a picture of the left side of the powerhead with the engine cover off, then we can see if it has this linkage… D
