      Hi Again
This time I’m looking for assistance in locating touch up spray paint for my 1973 Johnson 9.5 HP. I’m only seeing paint for my motor as white (mine is green with white cowl) on numerous websites. The color I need is green & not white I contacted BRP & was referred to AOMCI. Can anyone tell me the paint code, part # of the paint or anything that might help me get the right color?
      Thanks in advance

According to an older copy of OMC Parts & Accessory Catalog the touch up paint you seek is Anniversary Gold. Original #172691 SS to #771251. It is available at MarineEngine.com among other places. OMC color code is 72GJ1 & engineering spec is 389, but no PPG code is given for you to have any mixed. Hope that helps.

This may be of help, in that I have just had a look at my Tempo brand (Factory approved touch up paint) for Johnson 1967, code No.6702 and it looks very much like the 1972 and 73 green on the sales pamphlets I have.

Another suggestion, is to take part of the motor off, in which the paint is in good condition and take it to a paint shop where they specialize in matching ………..I have had good success with doing this here in NZ

I’m pretty sure Dan is right, that green might be referred to as a gold and I had that color custom matched in base/clear several years ago. If I look around, I think the can with the formula on it may still be here.

                  OMC paint codes.
