Thought you would be interested in the above after your offers of help which were much appreciated and going on info provided, I got the impression that few had done any of this work on these model
Hopefully the photos will be of interest and may help others.
I drilled the screws out and on removal of the exhaust pipe,( which to my surprise is copper and interesting to note that the drive shaft tube is brass)
The job went well, but you have to be careful not to damage the steel flange, which is not very strong and is somehow attached to the pipe (brazed possibly)……..there is a lot of leverage possible with the long exhaust pipe, so be careful!
