I am resurrecting a nice old 1955 Johnson 10hp for someone, but need to convert the ancient part number to something usable:
41-62 is the part number listed
Anyway of converting this to an updated part number? I am “assuming” that this is the same seal that is used in the 57 10hp but don’t want to make that mistake….

Yeah Don, that’s the same seal. I think Frank R. had a formula for converting those numbers and I believe Garry shared this one awhile back that I saved. I’ve used it on MarineEngine and it works.

Replace the dash with a zero

        41-62 becomes 41062

Place a zero in front to make it 6 digit, or 7 if needed, it becomes 041062

Punch that number in at marineengine and you get 0321788

        321788

Hm-m-m-m, seems to have worked. But the way I learned it is to simple toss out the “-” and insert enough leading zeros to make it 7 digits. Thus 41-62 becomes 0004162. It still comes up with the same result, so who am I to argue?

Cool, I recorded it wrong the last time you gave it.

              0004162
