      Hi all,

I got this as part of a deal I made and wonder if I should clean it up, paint it and make it look pretty, or keep it old and let the patina shine….lol

Not sure what age it is, saw one just like it listed as a 1920s Johnson, but who knows?

Made during Late 20s/early 30s Johnson stand.

For me, I think it would depend it I was going to display a antique restored
          outboard or antique non restored.
In the prior case I’d want the stand to look pretty.
In the later case, I think I’d wire wheel off the blue paint and
scale, then oil it up, shoe polish it, etc.

          Prepare to be boarded!

Clean it up. Wasn’t meant to look like that. Make it original, don’t chrome it. LOL

Just remember, if you make it too nice, you won’t want to scratch it or anything by hanging a motor on it. That’s about the way my Gale stand is.

I’d chem dip or blast it and then powder coat it

                        Thanks all for the opinions.

I was real happy to get the stand. I got it and a Speedifour that needs some work for $150.00, so I didn’t think I did to bad.

Anyone have any idea what the original color may have been?

I will re-do it since that’s the overall opinion.
