Picked up a VR55 at a swap meet today. Definitely a Project!
Missing quite a bit, but enough to build from.
Will be looking for a tank, jugs, exhaust, piston, 4 sets of rings, gearcase and prop to start.
Randy…..have you had the VR55 head gaskets made yet?

May 19, 2018 at 8:07 pm #76335i’m not sure if the gaskets will work on the VR 55 I know it will work on the VR 45 and VR 50 but nobody seems to know what the correct cylinders are, Nice find maybe a little difficult to find the stuff to put it together though, we have a club member that has been looking for parts for one for many years they seem to be as rare as frogs fur and hens teeth, I do know also the cylinder heads are unique and padded on both sides inside and have a number stamped on them, crankshaft cylinders and cylinder heads will be the hardest parts the find, I hope your crankshaft is good! The rest of the motor is common and same as many other motors 😎

May 20, 2018 at 3:56 pm #76407The big stamping on the rear of the crankcase is 23F96
Small stamping base port side is 04733Stamping on the Rotary is 23D102
May 20, 2018 at 5:01 pm #76415Look at 1st photo right below piston on crankcase. I see number??
May 20, 2018 at 11:00 pm #76444104733?
The last number is hard to make out, could be a 3, 9, 0…..sorry not sure
May 27, 2018 at 11:47 pm #76865Well looks like what I have is a VR rope plate on a service motor! Started taking it apart today, and found that hole on the mag plate is smaller than the hole on my XR55 mag plate. The XR55 and the VR55 are supposed to be the only two 4 cylinder OMC motors that share that mag plate with the larger hole as they have the extra room of the bearing at the top of the crankshaft.
Ah well, still happy with a Service Motor.
