Well-I messed up the slotted screws(33-76) that fasten the clam shell gear case together. It was mentioned before that OMC later went to Philips head. Hopefully these Philips head are the same size (head and length) as my slotted screws.
The slotted screw I have are ¼-20
Does anyone know the part number of said Philips head screw so I can put an ad in the classifieds??????

33-76 is the original part number, but I don’t get any “hits” searching
for them, even if I add a couple of zero’s as such……. 003376

        The 1957 35 hp shows…… 0330562 , available on MarineEngine.com,
but they don’t appear to be phillip head either.

        Prepare to be boarded!

33-76 (slotted) is what I have
I am looking for Philips head part number
Maybe the question should be –
What year did OMC start using Philips head on their calm shell gear cases?

For whatever it is worth, the 1970 33hp catalog lists the number as 304070. Taking that number to ME, it is superseded by 0330562—-a hex head screw. How ’bout that one?

That would be great if I knew I could get a socket on it
The walls of the recess might get in the way
I would have to assume it is 1/4 – 20 and 7/8 in length threads.

OK, my 1955 catalog says your motor takes 304070, which ME supersedes to 0330562 hex head. So if we can believe what it says, the 0330562 should work in your motor. It obviously has a small hex, likely 5/16″ (???).

The picture you posted is what ME shows for 0330562.

The screw needs to have the built in washer

                      I did a little test
I believe a 5/16 will clear the wall of the cavity

Frank I sure would like to see your library
                        I don’t know how you translated 33-76 to 304070/ 0330562
                        But I believe you
Now to find nine of them cheaper than 4.75 a piece
Maybe Ed or Ken will have some
