My 1954 Evinrude 7516’s cowl faded decal had
what I believe to be "Aquasonic" imposed within
the word Fleetwin. All I can make out is the "A".
In looking at decals available, American Outboard’s
(their reply below)
version for 1954 does not include the word Aquasonic.
Discontinued Decal’s version does.
Can anyone verify if there was an Aquasonic 7.5 Fleetwin
for the model 7516? I have no reason to believe the
cowling for my motor isn’t original, but then again,
I have no idea!
Thanks!

My 1954 Evinrude Fleetwin Model 7516 has
the word "Aquasonic" imposed within the
word "Fleetwin" on each side of the cowling.
Your photo of said decal at the link below,
does not show "Aquasonic".

Re: Decals for 1954 Evinrude Fleetwin Model 7516
Dear Sir, RE: 1954 Evinrude decal
To the best of my knowledge, the ‘Aquasonic" was used in 1955.(Type in Evinrude Aquasonic in search.)
We made our decals from hoods that had decals on them and believe them to be correct .
Thank you for writing.

January 26, 2017 at 6:11 pm #51795Yes, the ’54 Fleetwin did have ‘Aquasonic’ on the hood. At least the Canadian models did.
January 26, 2017 at 8:46 pm #51804Yes they did – through 1955. . . 😀
January 26, 2017 at 10:21 pm #51808No, the 1954 did not. It didn’t have the white trim – it had silver trim, limited to the logo area and raised portion. Does your cowling have the white or silver trim? Parts could have been intermixed in the interim 60+ years.
January 26, 2017 at 10:43 pm #51811January 26, 2017 at 11:43 pm #51812I can see why American Decal was confused 🙂
As you can see in my photo of my sad looking
Fleetwin, it does have the decal like Mr. Aquasonic.
Now I’m wondering if my cowling’s trim was white
or silver…… hard to believe the paint on mine is
so faded after only 63 years.
Will have to examine my cowl closer tomorrow!Prepare to be boarded!
January 26, 2017 at 11:57 pm #51814January 27, 2017 at 1:55 am #51828Pretty sure the 1954 was silver (dull aluminum) trim. I went out to dig out the hood I’ve had kicking around for 5 years, but durn–must have scrapped it. Hey, it was in bad shape.
EDIT: 1954 hood had screws holding the starboard side on. 1955 did not.
January 27, 2017 at 2:15 am #51832My 1954 SuperFastwin is pretty worn and faded but it has silver / dull aluminum trim as Frank stated. I believe this is the same on the Fleetwin (as well as Lightwin, Fisherman, and Big Twin)

January 27, 2017 at 2:43 am #51836Wedgie’s & Aquaman’s "white" trim is pretty sharp, so I may have a hankering to paint mine similar 🙂
I do have the screws holding the starboard side cowl fast, so 1954 it is.
Didn’t get much done today …… made a couple of gaskets, and squished
the shock absorber back together… hope to weld it up tomorrow.Prepare to be boarded!
