I just spent an hour searching for an old post I saw a while back that described how to remove a bearing housing, the bottom part of the water pump that holds a seal.
It involved using two screws or bolts spaced to fit the holes in the housing that the water pump screws pass through.
I’ve used the technique before and it worked great, but now I can’t find the post that described lt.
      Any suggestions?
      It’s for a ’56 5 hp Sea King, GG8960A.
      Thanks,
      Geer

I don’t recall seeing that post but I use lots of heat around the outside bearing area to release any old sealer which may be holding the housing in place while prying it very gently with two small screwdrivers. A bit of scorched paint is a small price to pay compared to a new 376074/382796 knock-off replacement part.
