I am having problems getting my water pump to work. For the impeller, i used 2 mercury impellers that stacked nicely and fit into the water pump body snugly. I couldn’t spin the impeller in water so I disconnected the motor leg from the powerhead and was able to put a drill on the drive shaft and spin in a bucket of water. N0 wAny ideasater coming out of the water tube. All tubes and openings are clear. I have not found part #37 (water pump gasket) which appears to sit on top of the water pump body and seats the drive shaft coupler. Would this gasket keep the pump from working? Any ideas as to where I could find this gasket and maybe an impeller? From the parts diagram, I can’t see how the gasket would keep from getting chewed up by the drive shaft. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.

I made part # 35 (your diagram) out of a stainless washer since mine was broken. Since I have no water coming out of my water tube, when I turn the shaft with a drill, I am assuming several possibilities. 1 my adapted impeller is not working. 2 water is not getting to the impeller 3 water is leaking out the top of the water pump along the drive shaft. this problem should not be that difficult to troubleshoot but once I put the motor leg over my impeller I can’t see what’s happening. Any little tricks to find out if my impeller is working. thanks again.

Is the drive shaft actually turning the impeller? You didn’t say how you adapted the rig to use a drive pin. Could you expand on that? I’ve got 4 Elgin 7.5s that all run but don’t pump so I’m facing the same impeller replacement problem. I remember Buc saying that drilling the drive shaft was tough in an earlier post.
Thanks
